Life Lately || 5 Good Things about January

In 2019, I got quite good at frequently reflecting on my progress and evaluating what I had coming up so I could manage or whether to ask for help and so on. It helped me A LOT and made my time at work really quite enjoyable. We were celebrating the little wins often and you always felt like you were getting somewhere.

But I hadn’t translated that into my own life. I was feeling really down and felt I had gone backwards rather than forwards for various reasons. So, as a new thing to add to the blog – which is more “lifestyle blogger” than “science blogger” – I thought it would be a good thing for me to reflect on each month and just share 5 big or little things that have happened over the past month. Hopefully it will make me feel a little better in myself, but maybe it will also rub off on you guys who read this and we can all celebrate the good things together.

So, here are my five good things for January:

We got a completion date for our house!

This was probably something that was frustrating me a little. No updates for nearly a month and I felt like we weren’t getting anywhere. But just as the month was coming to a close, we got the news that we could collect the keys in February and move in!

I was invited to be a TEDx speaker!

This has always been a dream of mine, and I always thought it would stay that way. But I can’t believe I finally get to live this dream of mine. You can read a little more about my feelings on this here.

I got my hair cut!

While not the most exciting thing for everyone to read, I have such thick hair and it had got so long and was just a mess. So managing to get it chopped off to my shoulder and more importantly thinned out always makes me feel much better.

Back to work & back to routine!

Most people don’t look forward to going back to work, but I am not one of those people. I always prefer being busy and having things to work towards. While being back at work means I have less time to blog, it means I am more productive and efficient with me time. Having said that, I think I’m doing pretty well on the blog front this year… Can’t say the same for Instagram yet!

It was the best ever month on the blog!

So, having said that, January was actually the best month on my blog since it began for blog views. So, I must be doing something right. But hopefully I can continue this in 2020!

So, those were my five good things for January. I have read such posts from other bloggers and I think it’s a great way to know a little bit more about them as well as spread the feeling of positivity and gratitude.

What do you think? Do you like the idea of this series? What was your good thing, or five good things for January? Am I asking too many questions? 😉 Please let me know by leaving comments.
